Import format
Termsoup supports four data columns in an Excel:
Language code 1 (must have)

What is term lookup
During the translation process, translators may need to research specific terms in the source texts for a deeper understanding. With Termsoup, you can easily research terms by highlighting them in the source texts and viewing the results on the same page, without the need to open a new tab.

You can share glossary with a specific Termsoup user. In this case, you'll have to know the user's Termsoup account before sharing the glossary.

Go to Glossary → Share
Click on the file name (sharing glossary is file-based).
Click on "Send."

Why add terms to glossary
Adding terms to glossary can save you time in future translations and ensure consistency in term translations. There are three ways to add terms to the glossary.
Method 1: Look up term and add it to glossary
After looking up a term,
Click on the blue word you wish to add to the glossary in the "Term results" panel. ❶

Sharing terms with other Termsoup users who translate the same language pairs as you can help create a more cooperative translation community among translators. When you share a term with another user, that term will appear in their "term query results" panel when they search for it.

Use terms after adding them to glossary
Once you have added terms to your glossary, you can easily use them repeatedly without the need to look them up again. There are two methods to utilize the glossary terms.
Method 1: Auto-suggestion
Position your cursor in the text editing area. ❶

What is a label in Termsoup?
When adding a term to glossary, you can also add label(s) to categorize the term and indicate which category it belongs to. For example, you could add a label called 'chemistry' to the following bilingual term:
English: deoxyribonucleic acid
Traditional Chinese: 去氧核糖核酸
Labels can help you organize your glossary and quickly find specific terms based on their categories.

What is external search
When looking up a term in Termsoup, you can use the external search feature to visit other dictionary or translation memory websites for more results. This can be especially helpful if you cannot find a satisfactory result within Termsoup, or if you prefer to use a specific external resource.

What is concordance
Concordance search lets you search through your translation memories for a specific word or phrase and see how it was translated in previous documents.
How to use concordance search
Click on the "Translation Memory" ♻️ icon on the right side to open the TM panel.
Highlight the source texts to find its concordances, and they will appear on the panel (if any).

What is custom hotkey
You can set frequently used terms or punctuation marks as F1 to F10 hotkeys, and then press F1 to F10 on your keyboard to use them.
Multiple hotkey rows
You can press Crtl and ↑ or ↓ key on your keyboard to switch between different hotkey rows. Currently there are 5 rows, 10 hotkeys per row, and 50 hotkeys can be set in total.
