Advanced machine translation

What is advanced machine translation

Advanced machine translation (Advanced MT) is a type of machine translation that allows users to assign their own bilingual terms to the machine translation process, enabling the machine translation to use these terms in its translations.

For example, a user may have a specific translation for the word "Starbucks" in their language, and can assign this term to the machine translation so that it uses this translation instead of the general translation for the word. This can help improve the accuracy and consistency of machine translations for specific industries or domains.

To use Advanced MT, please make sure that your plan supports this feature. Then you can then use Advanced MT when uploading source texts or when translating by following the steps outlined in the article.

--------

Sample of Advanced MT

Take the following English to traditional Chinese translation as an example:

Source text: Bourdieu was a French sociologist.
General MT: 布迪厄 是法國社會學家。

By assigning the bilingual terms Bourdieu 布爾迪厄 to the machine translation, 布爾迪厄 is applied to the translation.

Advanced MT: 布爾迪厄 是法國社會學家。

How to use Advanced MT

To use Advanced MT, users first need to make sure that their plan supports this feature. They can then use Advanced MT when uploading source texts or when translating by following the steps:

--------

Use Advanced MT when uploading source texts

Click on "Insert resource."
Select "Advanced machine translation."
Select labels for the terms you want to use in machine translation.
Select the method you want to use for machine translation.
Click on "Upload."

--------

Use Advanced MT when translating

Click on "Insert resource into the text area."

Select "Advanced machine translation."

Select labels for the terms you want to use in machine translation.
Please noted that you can only select less than 500 terms to run Advanced MT.

Select the method you want to use for machine translation (In this example, we use "One by one").
Click on "Send."

When Termsoup completes processing your settings, the Advanced MT results will be presented when you place the cursor in a text area (because in this example, we use "One by one").

Cursor in the text area of the first segment. In this example, we use "史塔巴克斯" for "Starbucks", rather than ordinary translation "星巴克".

Cusor had been placed in text areas of all segments
